2nd Annual Peace Football Match

Last Saturday, my organization held its Second Annual Peace Football Match in honor of Peace One Day, which is 21 September of each year!

This year, we had three teams participate. Two from the area of the capital and than other from the country side! I am hoping next year it is has even more team participate. It was amazing to see the 13 and under boys out there playing the game they love. That age is fun... the sport has not become too stressful or pressure filled yet and you can tell they just love the sport! There was a group of Moms or Aunties who were supporting their boys and reminded me so much of the WM parents at every volleyball game! They were loud, passionate, and wanted to see their boys succeed.

Overall, I am very happy with the success of the event! Mother Nature was good to us and it prevailed a positive message through sports!

Why I adore my students!

Some of my students after receiving back packs from the local cell phone company! It is the front of my school!

It was my second week at the school but my first week of doing my small tutoring groups at the school. I am still doing the same activities as last year. One day a week I go to the school and work with Grade 1 to Grade 4 students who need extra attention. A lot of my same students see me and it is great to see improvement! They must of been working this summer!

A wave or tropical storm had been passing Dominica and causing the sea to be really rough, it was very windy, and raining! No damage happened, it is just life living on a tropical island! That particular Tuesday was gloomy but not raining! Then all of a sudden, the sky opened and the RAIN FELL! When I say fell I mean DOWN POURED! The palm trees were going crazy with the windy, the rain was coming into the classrooms because of the wind and what not!

My student looked at me with a serious and frank but not worried face and said: "Miss, it looks like a hurricane Oui!" All I could do was smile because I agreed with him!

Happy List!

Motivated to do this blog after reading my friend's blog about her 'Happy Things' list she posted today!

- Woke up extra early today- and show the aftermaths of the sun setting over the mountains onto the sea. The sky had a thin pink line of clouds followed by the baby blue of clouds! It was a lovely way to wake up!

- Being able to take a nap in the morning after seeing the beauty and before church

- Coffee and Tea all morning!

- A cool but sunny day!

- Watching Austin cough into his elbow!

- Completing my WHOLE To Do List!

- Eating Mike and Ikes while Studying!

- Finishing my book

- Knowing that on Saturday I will take my GRE and it will be one less I have to concern myself with! Knowing that after my test, Alicia will be waiting for me so we can celebrate by going to the beach that we are BOTH done with our exams!

- Mexican food on Tuesday with my lovies!

- Streaming my two favorite TVs on line!

- In bed before 10P

Books Books and MORE Books!

The agency that I work with is connected with a young lady, she is around twelve or thirteen and is living in the States. She has family from Dominica and wanted to give back to Dominica. She thought the best may to give back to Dominica was to assit in the students and literacy! Throughout the course of the year she has collect various books and educational books for all grades and then shipped them down to Dominica! The office staff and myself had the task of empty out the barrels (which are about four feet tall and I cannot reach the bottom of the barrel if it is standing straight up!) and sort all of the books! The books will be going to five different schools, one being the primary school in my village!

Thetwo barrels about about an eighth of the books that were donated!

It is amazing to see selfless giving hearts in action!

Antigua!

The view of the pool of the wedding chapel!

We all need a little Holiday and I am very excited of the location where I live because I can get on a little and I mean LITTLE plane and hop to another island! After a very busy summer four volunteers and myself went to Antigua for relaxation! We stayed at an all-inclusive resort right by the sea. Because there was a storm passing the sea was too rough to swim in but we enjoyed the breeze and the smell of the sea!

The group after my favorite meal! Italian!

I could not of asked for a better group to travel with! We are all very low key individuals, all waited the same thing out of our vacation, and just enjoyed each other! My week included laying pool side only to be bothered when it was time to eat a meal, make bracelets, play table tennis, tie-dye, and twice we did a little water aerobics or take our afternoon nap in the AC! We are very simply travelers!

I Have Missed You!

Hey Everyone!

Let me tell you I have missed you but I needed a minute away from blogging I guess. I am glad to be back telling you all about my lovely life. The question is where do I even begin! A lot and a little has happened over the last month or so!

I will give you some snap shots of the last while in my life and then check out my blog for more details of the events! I spent six lovely days with four lovely individuals sitting poolside, eating really good and laughing until tears were rolling down our faces! I emptied out 2 barrels of books to give to five different schools! Dominica made a National appearance on a TV show! The weather got a little fierce! My volleyball career is on a hold for the moment! After a year my beautiful skirt came out of the closet!
